Caroline, or Change

Actors' Playhouse's latest production is the Tony Award-winning musical Caroline, or Change set in 1960s Louisiana. The show's score blends gospel, blues, Motown, and Jewish folk music to tell a provocative and personal story. The book and lyrics were written by Tony Kushner, best known for his seminal work Angels in America. "[Jeanine] Tesori's wondrous score is like the search function on a car radio, picking up snippets of every genre on the dial," wrote Jesse Green in his New York Times review of the 2021 Broadway revival.
