Gunfire; political corruption; a beautiful, tormented woman; and bottomless shot glasses. Sure it sounds like what you did last summer, but its also what Jack Swyteck does in the latest installment of author James Grippandos mystery series about the adventures of this lawyer/perpetual bachelor. When Darkness Falls is a gripping story of a case that seems predictable on the surface but quickly gets tangled up in Argentinas Dirty War, which led to the extermination of nearly 30,000 people. Set in Miami over just a few days, Grippandos tale, the author says, started with the question: What do we do about terrorism? He says the Dirty War was a bad answer. (Arent all wars?) Read the best-selling novelists latest and be hooked by a murder mystery that never dulls. While youre at it, get a bit of history about a historical event that still casts a shadow over many people in our community.
