Sushi is difficult to eat with chopsticks. It’s even more difficult when birds are swooping out of the sky, trying to peck your eyes out. Don’t worry about the latter. It will only be depicted on the wall of Moonchine Asian Bistro during the new Tuesday series, MiMo Classic Film Night.

The highlight will be the 10 p.m. screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 opus weirdus The Birds. In stark contrast to the trend in modern horror, Hitchcock doesn’t explain why birds are suddenly organizing into sadistic SWAT teams to murder humans. Just as Rope is an exercise in camera movement and Psycho is designed to distort point of view, The Birds is largely an experiment in tension. And despite the fact you’ve never feared a bird in your life, you’ll find yourself looking over your shoulder all evening. (Hint: Don’t order any rolls with sesame seeds.)

The 8 p.m. appetizer is Robert Aldrich’s campy Whatever Happened to Baby Jane?, in which Betty Davis’s turn as Jane Hudson will not only remind you of Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes in Misery, but also put the latter performance in proper perspective.
