The days are long and hot. You've been staring at the pavement again, huffing Metrobus exhaust, drinking lemonade made from a powdered mix, and perhaps wondering what happened to the good ole summertime. Well, it's back in full swing today at Roberto Clemente Park (101 NW 34th St.), if only from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. As part of Miami Mayor Manny Diaz's Heart of our Parks initiative, the Wynwood/Edgewater Neighborhood Enhancement Team (NET) offers Kids In the City, a celebration of art, fashion, and music emphasizing the cultural flavor of the neighborhood. Among the events: skateboarding demonstrations and lessons by Control, exhibitions by several Bakehouse artists, and graffiti created on site by local gallery owner Dustin Orlando. A fashion show sponsored by retailer M-80 will showcase vintage clothing and new pieces. The Surnalo Sound System and Arte del Barrio bands, such as Agathon, La Granja Mecanica, and OMHS, will play. Vendors will sell food and refreshments should you forget your picnic basket. Admission is free. Call 305-579-6931. -- By Margaret Griffis

Family Ways
Moms, dads, and babies too at the zoo
Might be a good idea to stay away from Metrozoo (12400 SW 152nd St.) if you don't want to get pregnant. Get your mind out of the gutter: We're not referring to bestiality. We're talking solely about animals, not human beings. Almost every day a new baby beast is born at the zoo. In the last couple of weeks, a gazelle, zebra, and giraffe arrived. Human families might be able to catch a glimpse of those furry bambinos at 10:00 a.m. during a narrated cart tour dubbed Zoo Babies and Families. Advance registration is required. Cost is $20 for one adult with one child; an additional adult or child can be added for $5 each. Call 305-251-0400. -- By Nina Korman
