Riptide had its tongue firmly planted in its cheek when it warned you of an elderly crime spree sweeping Miami-Dade. Apparently we should have been more serious, because Police arrested a 71 year old man (one year younger than McCain!) who needed a walker to get around for allegedly stabbing a homeless man to death and then taking his baseball cap. Miami's had some serious killers in its day, but snatching the victim's hat, that's just straight up cold blooded.

The man, Jesus Alvarez, was snooping around the crime scene when police shooed him away and even helped him cross the street. Then, after reviewing security footage from a Little Haiti Walgreens the victim had visited earlier, they realized Alvarez was wearing the same white cap the victim had worn. They tracked the geezer down, found a bloody knife in his pocket, and charged him with second degree murder. I'll sleep better knowing this man is off the streets, but his face is going to haunt my dreams.
