Everyone is going green now that gas prices are higher than James Franco in Pineapple Express, but how do we shrink our carbon footprints in the place that matters most: the home? Drum roll, please. The Miami Home Design and Remodeling Show is hosting the Better Homes and Gardens Living Green Tour this Friday through Tuesday at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The featured exhibit is a 2,500-square-foot home that's completely green from foundation to ceiling. That’s right — from floors built entirely with bamboo to countertops made from recycled bottles and tiles constructed from old car windshields, every inch of the home has a lesson for the conscientious consumer.

Visitors are welcome to try the appliances, take a nap on the soy-based couches, and chat up Steven J. Whittle, the on-site renovation specialist and host. The nationwide, 15-city tour is even traveling on bio-diesel, though most Miamians will probably arrive via Hummer. At least it's a ride in the right direction, right? Tickets cost $10, and kids under 11 get in for only a buck. After you're done, you can also check out the show at large, which is chock full of celebrity design showcases and all things renovation-based.
