You probably send hundreds of LOLs and LMAOs by text message every day, but the true question is: Are you thumbing away with a straight face, or are you really laughing out loud? Cell phone messaging has created a loss of intimacy when it comes to funny. Let’s face it — the best part about cracking a joke is hearing and seeing someone double over and enter hilarity heaven. And no cheesy acronym can re-create that. The Miami Improv is still keeping the comedy classic, and the newest addition to its weekly lineup of laughs is the Miami Live Comedy Lounge. If the name sounds familiar, it’s because these are the same guys who brought you incredible performances, a sexy crowd, and one of the hottest parties in the nation each Wednesday on South Beach at Santo.

Abebe Lewis and Michael Madd changed the landscape of nightlife, and yes, they’re back — but this time their goal is to make you chuckle. Each Tuesday, the country’s hottest comedians hit the Improv’s legendary stage to give one of the city’s flyest crowds a reason to laugh again. And if you’re afraid all of your giggling will add too many unnecessary wrinkles to your flawless face, come for the musical performances. So far, Ace Hood, Qwote, and Grindmode have rocked the crowd, and there’s no telling who else Madd and Lewis have up their sleeves. The show starts at 10 p.m. Tickets cost $20 for general admission, $32.50 for VIP. Don’t forget that two-drink minimum. Visit www.miamiimprov.com.
