ontrary to popular belief, you can spell summer without Zo. But a steamy season without the annual charity fundraiser from everyone's favorite health-challenged Miami Heat center just wouldn't feel right. Having just made an impressive run for the NBA playoffs, Alonzo Mourning is now gearing up for his other passion. The events for this year's Zo's Summer Groove will range from the swank (admission to his golf classic is $750 and up) to the crunk. Before today's all-star basketball game, enjoy a free block party outside the American Airlines Arena (601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Groove to music from urban radio DJs, and watch live performances by surprise guest stars. After the party, head inside for a game featuring some of the best celebrity hoopsters around, including Damon Stoudamire from the Portland Trailblazers and Gary Payton from the Boston Celtics. Of course Miami Heat players, including Zo himself, Keyon Dooling, and Dwyane Wade, will make Miami proud once again. Tickets range from $12 to $60. Soccer with only three players, a field one-fifth the size of the norm, and no goalie? These madcap games will be running all weekend at the fast-paced amateur Kick-It 3v3 Soccer Shoot-Out at Brian Piccolo Park (9501 Sheridan St., Hollywood) from 9:00 to 5:00 today and tomorrow. With only three team members to share the kicking and butting, and just two minutes between halves to recover, weekend players are going to be gasping for breath. Expect quick and fancy footwork and unique strategies on the minifield. Crestline Sports' Chris Signer says, "With only two other people on the field, it's a different level of fitness. Your defending techniques change. You have to be able to take on players one-on-one and beat them." Close to 200 teams compete to qualify for the next level: a regional competition in Lakeland, whose winners will advance to the finals at Disney's Wide World of Sports. Admission is free. Today at 8:00 a.m. (and Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.), you can learn the Hawaiian sport of outrigger canoe paddling at the Miami Rowing and Watersports Center (3601 Rickenbacker Cswy., Key Biscayne). But once you begin, you might not be able to stop. "People try it and are immediately addicted," says head coach Tim Streeter. "There's a very small attrition rate."
