On July 20, students from Miami International University showcased haute couture made entirely out of McDonald's wrappers for Swim Week 2017. The students used more than 7,000 McDonald’s sandwich wrappers, 2,800 fry boxes, and 825 soft drink cups to construct 21 different looks while competing for a scholarship. At the end of the show, the Cabrera/Bentancourt organization awarded a $5,000 scholarship to Miami International University of Art and Design student Pablo Machado Palomeque.
