Daniel Azoulay has crisscrossed the planet to chase the perfect picture throughout his long career. The globetrotting lensman was born in Casablanca, Morocco, was raised in Israel, and studied photography in Denmark before working as a fashion shutterbug in Copenhagen, London, Paris, and Milan.
In 1970, Azoulay moved to the Big Apple, where he began to concentrate on building his fine-art portfolio and getting his passport stamped at many of the world’s major ports in his efforts to capture attention-commanding imagery before settling in the Magic City in the late 1980s.
Since making Miami his home, Azoulay has made documenting our town’s dynamically developing skyline one of his primary goals.
From 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. daily through January 9, 2015, you can catch the award-winning photographer’s handiwork at Florida International University’s Miami Beach Urban Studio (420 Lincoln Rd., Ste. 440, Miami Beach), showing Azoulay's striking Art Basel Miami Beach solo, "PAMM: Under Construction" chronicling the rise of Miami's new museum on Biscayne Bay.
In his stunning suite of imagery snapped at PAMM, Azoulay captures architecture with remarkable detail while focusing on form, light, and shadows, revealing unique angles and perspectives to convey the beauty and artistry of the building itself. Admission is free. Call 305-535-1463 or visit carta.fiu.edu.
Mondays-Sundays, 9 a.m. Starts: Nov. 21. Continues through Jan. 9, 2014
