Beyond the standard explanations (concerning free will and the Book of Job) is this: If all people could eat steak and lobster and anything else they desired almost all the time, then starvation would not exist, but PBJ sandwiches would be the measure of suffering. Yes, Grasshopper, it's all relative.

A local photographer named Bibi Luzarraga can attest to the truthfulness of this assertion. "I was having a bad week," she says. "I had a car accident, this guy hit me and then took off, and my lease expired so I had to move, and I'm also looking for a full-time job. When Katrina hit, I was watching the news, and I said, 'You know what? I'm not having a bad week after all. I have a roof over my head and food in the fridge.'"

Struck by the revelation, she called some friends and announced she wanted to promote a concert to raise funds for the victims of the hurricane and flood. The group is called Miami Artists for Gulf Coast Relief.

More than fifteen acts will perform during the ten-hour show, which will also feature a silent auction of original artwork and a raffle for 50 prizes. An executive from the American Red Cross will speak. And, once again, the people of the Gulf Coast region will be helped by Americans who are standing up in place of the government that let them down.
