The Art of Transformation Street Festival tells the story of Opa-locka’s cultural evolution through art, music, and cuisine. Unique and inspirational South Florida artists and performers will pool their talents to immerse downtown Opa-locka (Ali Baba Avenue) in an exciting array of color, taste, and sound. From 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, the festival will reign between Aladdin Street and Opa-locka Boulevard. The 2014 series celebrates the artistic expansion of a community by commemorating its transformational journey from past to present. Its live performances and fascinating art pieces are free and open to all ages to enjoy. Between 2 and 6 p.m., entertainment will cater specifically to families, and live performances will be held on the center stage from 6 to 8 p.m. A nail-biting DJ battle will bring the day to a close. Having made it to the semifinals, a select few talented DJs will fight to wow the audience, which will decide the winner of the Master DJ title, along with $500 cash, featured press, and airplay on Hits 97.3. The Art of Transformation Festival runs from November 12 to December 14. Visit opalockaart.org or call 305-687-3545, ext. 224.
