The honest account is a roller coaster of emotions through Patterson’s trials with domestic abuse, low self-esteem, infidelity, and emotional scarring. The ex-wife of former Atlanta Hawks forward Doug Edwards recalls a hardened childhood growing up in Overtown. The Miami native’s fairy-tale love affair did not end happily ever after — but in Mad Lyfe, she shares her struggles and her will to move on. Patterson has since left her “hellified drama” for an education and a more fulfilling role as a Miami-based registered nurse. The mother of three has found solace in sharing her story and plans to empower other troubled women through her written word. Patterson proves there’s more to being a basketball wife than diamond rings and glamorous things. Underneath the glitz stood a damaged woman; she has since been reborn and is ready for a proper hometown baptism.
