Some carnivals only really get going once they’ve met their gruesome end. Rides may be shut down, stalls abandoned, and spotlights dimmed, but the resident circus freaks and performers are far from finished — they’re just getting started. The Club at the Biltmore Hotel (1200 Anastasia Ave., Coral Gables) will have you grappling with your senses as you struggle to decipher fantasy from reality at the Carnival of Darkness. From 8 to 11 p.m. this Friday, take part in an interactive Halloween event that asks you not only to get dressed up but also to tangle yourself in an unforgettable web of trickery and illusion. The Country Club Ballroom will host this 21-and-older party, and in true carnival style, weirdness will be celebrated. Prizes will go to the spookiest, funniest, and most original (handmade) costumes. Original Halloween-themed cocktails and cuisine will be available, and DJ Aqua Girl will spin an eclectic mix of dance music. Tickets cost $50 for members and $75 for guests. Reserve tickets at theclubatthebiltmore.com or call 305-913-3230. Make sure to RSVP by phone.
