Fashion Frenzy

Forget New York, Paris, and Milan. The fashion elite will have another destination this week: South Beach. More than 10,000 members of the media and industry are expected to visit this week. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim is upon us! Models and mayhem abound as Miami transforms into the party mecca it’s known for, with five days of nonstop catwalks, swim- and resort-wear, and plenty of hot, beach-ready bodies. Sure, laypeople can’t get access to the runway shows without a little pull, but there are always afterparties, right? Put away the Ed Hardy gear and Affliction tees and pull out all the stops. The “dress to impress” cliché exists for a reason, after all. People watching is key, so make your way to Swim Week’s stomping grounds at the Raleigh Hotel (1775 Collins Ave., Miami Beach). Simply sitting poolside (or in the lobby, if you want to chill in the A/C while you creep) is enough to feel awash in the chaos. Have dinner at the newly opened Restaurant Michael Schwartz and you’ll be sure to spot the next Kate Upton and Chrissy Teigen — or at the very least a Kardashian.
