Hooters, famous for chicken wings and hot chicks, will host the 16th Annual Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant at The Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater June 23 at 10 p.m. The event will be broadcast on FX and to all Hooters restaurants live. Competing for a $50,000 first place prize are 101 Hooters girls selected from over 18,000 workers in 430 restaurants worldwide.
Contestants were chosen to represent their markets and home towns by competing in local swimsuit contests.
"Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant is the biggest event that we host, and every year the contest becomes more and more competitive," stated Alexis Aleshire, director of public relations for Hooters. "There are 100 Hooters Girl contestants who travel to Miami, representing restaurants as far away as Tokyo, competing for the most coveted title of 'Miss Hooters International', and the $50,000 prize."
Lindsey Way of Fort Lauderdale, who placed in the top 10 behind winner
LeAngela Davis in 2010, was the winner of the 2011 Miss Hooters
International, also held in Miami.
In addition to a first-place prize of $50,000, the first place winner will also receive a feature in the Hooters magazine, an appearance in the Hooters calendar and national TV spots.
Other awards will be presented, including Miss Hooters World representing 27 international markets, Miss Hooters Congeniality, Miss Photogenic and Miss Hooters Magazine Viewer's Choice, who is selected based on votes at facebook.com/hooters.
