Every fifteen years or so, the adult film industry gives birth to a porn star whose talents go beyond anal DP.

Back in the '70s, booby queen Annie Sprinkle fucked for money during the day while staging pseudo-feminist performance art at night. And then a decade later, infamous underager Traci Lords took a shot at smutty cineplex comedy in John Waters's Cry-Baby.

But these days, Sasha Grey is that special porno pro who doesn't do all her work while on her back. Or facedown. Or in a squatting position.

It was right after cementing her status as a sex biz star with a couple of 2007 AVN awards for "Best Three Way Sex Scene" and "Best Group Scene" that Grey started toying with all kinds of sideline occupations, including non-nude model, legit actress, serious musician, and part-time disc jockey.

She modeled for American Apparel ads and dressed Amish-like for the cover of Vice Magazine. She released an EP's worth of noise punk experiments called A Vigillant Carpark. And then she scored big, landing the lead role in Steven Soderbergh's escort-sploitation flick, The Girlfriend Experience.

Now fresh off her most mainstream gig, playing herself (and Vinnie Chase's girlfriend) on Entourage, Grey's gonna be doing her DJ thing as part of the Catalina Hotel's All-Access New Year's Eve Party. According to the official literature, there will be "a complimentary champagne toast as Sasha Grey rings in the new year with guests" at midnight, after which she'll drop some "retro" as revelers wander between "the hotel's three buildings, open bar, endless food stations, and all-night live music."

So yeah, there won't be any anal DP. But it should still be a good time.

Sasha Grey with Spam Allstars as part of the All-Access New Year's Eve Party. Friday, December 31. Catalina Hotel and Beach Club, 1732 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. The party starts at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $95 via catalinasouthbeach.com/newyears2011.
