It's that time of year when we count down to New Times' Best of Miami
2012 issue in June. Until then, Short Order will serve up 100 of our
favorite dishes in the 305. If you have any nominations of your own,
please send them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
News Lounge co-owner Cesare Mazzoli says the menu is "prepared with diligence and care." One of five new sandwiches on the menu is the Victoria Station, which is prepared with thin-sliced raw beef carpaccio, arugula, pesto, hearts of palm and parmigiana reggiano on fresh French bread. It is a perfect harmony of flavors.
The carpaccio is sliced delicately with a razor sharp knife that scours nothing but the taste off the top. The pesto is ground up basil leaves mixed with spices and a hint of garlic that does nothing to mask the flavor of the meat and toppings, but instead compliments it subtly. Also among five new sandwiches will likely be a smoked salmon, served with mozzarella, proscisutto, basil and tomato. All sandwiches are served on specialty foccacia or French bread, acquired fresh from local distributors.
