The club and superstar Lionel Messi are looking to bounce back after their shocking elimination in the first round of the 2024 playoffs. The team finished the regular season with the best overall record in the MLS at 22 wins and 4 losses, winning the Supporters' Shield for the first time in club history.
The historic season did not stop there. Inter Miami also set a new league points record with 74 points, eclipsing the previous record of 73 points set by the New England Revolution three years ago.
Despite the club's success, head coach Gerardo "Tata" Martino abruptly resigned in November, citing personal reasons.
Former soccer pro Javier Mascherano, an ex-teammate of Messi's on Argentina's national team and on FC Barcelona in Spain's La Liga, was hired to replace Martino as the club's new head coach.
