Three friends and restaurant guys who were once favored dinner party hosts have banded together to bring North Miami a much-needed Indian spot. The curries and biriyanis, overseen by chef Avanish Shrivastava, are powerfully seasoned, rich delights, but the southern Indian specialties prepared by Bangalore native Shiva Malabanti are what you want. Opt for the Kerala pepper chicken, featuring a rich gravy that bathes juicy chicken thighs and gets its spice from a handful of fresh-cracked black pepper. Each dish here can also be a trip through time and history. The best way to see it all is with the shrimp balchao, a leftover from Portuguese colonialism that simmers fat prawns in crushed tomatoes and vinegar.
