El Taquito

When you visit El Taquito in Coconut Grove, it's likely you'll meet Osvaldo. He owns the joint along with his wife Angie. Osvaldo is happy to explain the difference between real Mexican food and the mostly Americanized version ubiquitous in Miami. More important, though, he makes some of the best tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas you'll taste anywhere north of Homestead. And prices are unbelievable, especially when you take location into account. Tacos consist of a soft corn tortilla loaded with beef, chicken, or pork and topped with a mixture of onion and fresh cilantro. Quesadillas are exquisite and come as three grilled-cheese tacos filled with your choice of meat. But the real treat here is the green enchilada, three rolled-up tortillas filled with chicken, ham, or pork, slathered with salsa verde, and smothered with cheese. The next time you're in the Grove, stop at El Taquito for some great Mexican food — and tell Osvaldo we said hello.
