Bring out your mallets and boots for several rounds of chukkas on the beach. No, we’re not talking about another molly poppin’ EDM festival on the shores of South Beach. We’re talking the La Martina Miami Beach Polo World Cup IX. For four days, the sandy grounds of SoBe (between 20th and 22nd streets, behind the Setai Hotel) will serve as the field for competition between men’s and women’s polo teams presented by Maserati, Lufthansa Private Jet, Heys, the Raleigh, and E! Entertainment, among others, as they compete for the championship title. The challenge kicks off with the South Beach Women’s Polo Club match on Thursday. And of course, Miami wouldn’t be Miami without cranking up the glitz and glamour. Following the tournament, the Raleigh Hotel will be celebrating the start of the polo world cup with the World Cup Kickoff party. The tournament runs through Sunday, with more matches, parties, and a fashion show that will be televised on E! Entertainment Latin America. The last team standing will be crowned champs in the Sport of the King.
