Hundreds of people turned out to last evening’s Burgerliscious at Coral Gables’ Fred B. Hartnett Ponce Circle Park to sample some of Miami’s best sliders, while enjoying great music, cold beer, and fantastic weather.

Nearly two dozen restaurants, including Swine Southern Table & Bar; Eating House; Pincho Factory; Bulla Gastrobar; Bread + Butter; and Shake Shack, offered their most creative renditions of the classic burger.

The big winner of the evening’s Best in Bun prize was Rok:BRGR for the delightfully named Drunken Pretzel Burger, a house Prime beef blend patty topped with aged cheddar, Sam Adams beer mustard, inside a pretzel bun.

The winning Rok:BRGR is a sight to behold (and even tastier to eat).

Second place went to Pincho Factory for their take on a classic burger.

Swine Southern Table & Bar’s pork belly topped double decker took the third place spot.

The people’s choice award went to Sushi Maki for their intricate, multi-faceted cheeseburger.

Of course, after all that meat, there must be dancing.

A “selfie station” allowed you to become one with your burger.

The grills were fired up and ready to go to meet the demands of a hungry Coral Gables.

Instead of voting for “cheesy” candidates, Florida probably should have just voted for cheese.

After a long journey of tasting 21 burgers, judges Laine Doss (Miami New Times); Nick Pena (Y100); Giovanny Guitierrez (Chat Chow); Fred Gonzalez (Miami.com); and Cassie Glenn (Yelp) take an Ellen DeGeneres-inspired “selfie”. Coral Gables Mayor Jim Cason also judged the competition, but had to leave to perform his mayorly duties before the picture was taken. Job well done (literally)!
