With a flood of global imports, like London-based Italian hotspot Sparrow Italia, and local newcomers like Otto & Pepe, the area has become a hot spot for buzzy new openings. Now joining the lineup is Casa Madera, a coastal Mexican restaurant and lounge from Noble 33, the Los Angeles-based hospitality group behind Sparrow Italia and Toca Madera.
Set to open in Wynwood on Wednesday, December 11, Casa Madera blends two major Miami dining trends: splashy, out-of-town concepts and restaurant-membership hybrids.
Executive chef Abelardo "Tito" Vargas leads the kitchen, offering a seafood-centric menu with modern twists on Mexican classics.
Think starters like hamachi serrano and ceviche blanco with citrus pepitas, tacos filled with tiger shrimp or A5 Wagyu skirt steak, and grander plates like Dover sole with chili de árbol or a flaming salt-crusted branzino served tableside. Other appetizers include guacamole with Tajín-dusted mango, jalapeño, lime, and plantain chips, grilled crab legs with Caribbean herb butter, and calypso aioli, and burrata with fresh black truffle, honeycomb, cilantro-garlic, and a housemade flour tortilla.
Tacos range from beer-battered sea bass with habanero creme to braised Wagyu beef with pico de gallo.
Noble 33's beverage director, Juan Carlos Santana, has crafted a cocktail program heavy on tequila and mezcal, with fresh, vibrant ingredients taking center stage. Standouts include the "Quintana Roo," with blue spirulina, and the "Jungle Nectar," a tropical mix of passionfruit, guava, and spice.
