The iconic Coral Gables deli, beloved by generations of UM students and locals alike, is relocating from its longtime home at the University Shopping Center on South Dixie Highway to a new space at 4000 Ponce de Leon Blvd. this fall. The reason? The deli's original home is being demolished to make way for the Mark, a massive $70 million mixed-use apartment complex set to rise in its place.
News of the move in September 2024 sent shockwaves through the community. After all, Miamians have been passing by that blue Bagel Emporium sign along U.S.1 for decades, and there's no way a new location could ever embody the history, charm, and old-school feel of its original diner. However, fans should fret not because the new, larger digs mean even more menu options will be in store, new hours, and new possibilities.

A Modern Era For An Old-Time Deli
Since 1975, Bagel Emporium & Grille has served as a comfort-food haven for the community, offering stacked sandwiches, crispy fries, and early-morning breakfast plates in a no-frills, counter-service setting. But change is on the menu. At its new downtown Coral Gables address, located at the intersection of Ponce and Bird Road, Bagel Emporium plans to expand its hours and its offerings, debuting dinner service and even serving spirits for the first time in its history."We are very excited about this new chapter in our fifty-year history,” says owner David Strawderman. "We are now part of a great building and a vibrant community."

Though the move marks the end of an era on Dixie Highway, the spirit of Bagel Emporium is simply shifting a few blocks west. And if the lines at breakfast are any indication, its fans are ready to follow. The new location is expected to open this fall.
