Broward smash burger lovers, rejoice: you no longer have to brave I-95 south to get your hands on one of Miami’s most buzzed-about smash burgers. Skinny Louie, the wildly popular Miami-born burger joint, has just opened on January 23 at Dania Pointe in Dania Beach, marking its first official Broward location.
For those unfamiliar (where have you been?), Skinny Louie became a smash hit (pun fully intended) in 2024 for its juicy, crispy-edged burgers and cheeseburgers, nostalgic shakes, and golden fries. Once Broward-based blogger the Broward Scene (@thebrowardscene) shared a video of the new storefront at Dania Pointe, fans went wild, with one writing, “When I saw this, I was so happy! Now I don’t have to go out of my way and fight for parking in Wynwood,” and another writing, “Stop it! This is so fire!” with three fire emojis.
The Skinny on Louie
Skinny Louie’s hype became undeniable after the spot took home top honors at this year’s South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash, winning the Schweid & Sons Very Best Burger Judges Award and a $2,500 check.
Owners Gonzalo Rubino, originally from Argentina, and Matias Palloni wowed the judges with the now-famous “Wagyu Louie,” a double-smashed wagyu beef burger layered with melted smoked gouda, truffle aioli, and pickled jalapeños, all hugged by a soft brioche bun. It was Rubino’s first Burger Bash win, and it solidified Skinny Louie’s place in Miami’s burger hall of fame.
The classic menu doesn’t serve this wagyu burger. Still, it does whip out the “Skinny Louie Cheeseburger” with grilled onions, double American cheese, pickles, and “Louie Sauce,” the “Classic Burger” made with American cheese, tomato, lettuce, onions, ketchup, and mustard, and the “Applewood Bacon Burger” made of applewood-smoked bacon, American cheese, and “Louie Sauce.”

From Wynwood to NYC and Beyond
In January 2024, the original Wynwood location quickly developed a cult following, with lines out the door and a social media presence that fueled the fire. The hype even caught the attention of New Times back in early 2024, when we named the burger joint one of the 10 best burgers in Miami. In little to no time, the spot had sights beyond Wynwood.
By November 2024, the spot had a spot at the Kaseya Center in downtown Miami, and a second location open in Little Havana on Calle Ocho. Then, in May of this year, the team expanded to Coral Gables before surprising fans with a leap to New York City. Now, Rubino and team are heading a little north of their OG location to meet the growing demand from Broward locals.

Future Skinny Louie Locations Coming to You
Soon, residents of Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, and beyond can grub on a smash burger with “Louie Sauce” or sip on a thick vanilla shake without making the trek down to Miami.
Oh, and Dania Beach isn’t the only upcoming Skinny Louie location: expect new openings in West Palm Beach, Aventura, South Miami, Penn Station in NYC, and the Upper East Side in NYC to open in 2026.
But for Broward burger fans, this “winter” just got a whole lot beefier.
