Miami's enviable mixture of pristine beaches, ever-present wildlife, luxury shopping, fine dining, and laid-back urban living inspired users on Reddit to jump on a social media trend extolling the virtues of living in our city. Over the past few days, posts titled "Why I Live Here" have shared photos of Miami's daily delights — until the trend took an ironic turn.

At first, posts looked a lot like Redditor Yael_Soule's photos of sprawling trees, thick foliage, and homegrown fruit. Her post attracted more than 600 upvotes and almost 100 comments.

"We always worry about the bad, sometimes too much," wrote Redditor Gold_Ad_3590 before encouraging residents to "appreciate the little things we are blessed to have."

Fellow Redditors acquiesced, but not for too long. While initial posts highlighted the aforementioned comforts, users quickly moved on to venting about the daily annoyances of Miami life. Congested traffic, rampant scam artists, and a high cost of living were among the most cited grievances.

Redditor 2shizhtzu4u was one of many who offered a sardonic take on the trend with a photo of near standstill traffic on the Palmetto Expressway. The post got more than 1,600 upvotes and 200 comments, mostly from people in total agreement that Miami traffic is a pain in the BBL.

"I always wonder how people sit in that traffic every day to and from work," user Bombero_911 commented. "Thank God my job has hours that allow me to avoid this madness."

User WaterConstant offered a silver lining: "Well, sometimes you get to see a flipped Lamborghini, and [it's] always fun to try and figure out how the fuck that happened."

Another reason people live in Miami? According to user biggwermm, because bricks of cocaine regularly wash up on the beaches. That post got more than 600 upvotes and 30 comments.

"21st-century square grouper are sparse!" joked user 72Dirty.

"One day, I will be blessed with one of those flour cake packages," user -XtCode- quipped.

Other users joked about the high cost of living with screenshots of bank accounts with small sums of money.

Redditor gusbus00001 posted a photo, seemingly of their bank statement, showing a balance of $28.84.

"Weak," user millionmilegoals commented. "Real Miami folks would have posted how much they owe on their credit cards."
