Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?
Okay, maybe you’re not. It’s not like the Dolphins gave us much to celebrate last season. And a game between Peyton Manning (him again? yawn) and the Seahawks (who?) doesn’t exactly scream “must-watch” to Miami’s sporty demographic.
Luckily, Miami doesn’t need any stinking Super Bowl to have fun this weekend. We’ve got professional wrestling, beer festivals, Seinfeld in our backyard, and even a couple Borscht filmmakers talking about vagina puppets. Richard Sherman ain’t got nothin’ on us.
Friday
WWE Live: Think of it as the Super Bowl on steroids. Well, more steroids.
Nipsey Hussle: Check out the Jay Z-approved rapper for far less than the cost of his latest album release.
Burgie Awards: This culinary collection of South Florida’s best burgers rarely disappoints.
Jerry Seinfeld: Here’s hoping he addresses the similarities between Pharrell’s hat at the Grammy’s and Elaine’s urban sombrero.
Saturday
Fashion|Art|Music Night: Think of it as Coconut Grove’s monthly art walk on steroids. Fashion-forward, sweet-sounding steroids.
Miami Beer Festival: Bottoms up!
Mystery Dates: You just might fall in love with a piece of art at MOCA’s annual fundraiser. Just don’t try to take it home to meet your mother.
Isabel Allende: Hear the author read from her latest, Ripper.
Filmgate Interactive 2014: This fest runs through Feb. 5, and features all kinds of weird Miami panels and performances.
Sunday
Super Bowl: You know you’re going to end up watching the game anyway, right? Here are a few great places to do just that.
Bonus item: You’re going to Artopia, right? If you order your tickets by Sunday, you’ll save a ton of cash with New Times‘ early-bird pricing. Just saying.
