When thinking of the wealthiest areas in South Florida, one place instantly comes to mind for most locals: Fisher Island.
This exclusive enclave has long been a retreat for the rich and famous, from Oprah Winfrey to Russian oligarchs to Victoria’s Secret Angels. It’s also consistently ranked as one of the wealthiest ZIP codes in the nation. Covering a mere 0.27 square miles and accessible only by boat, ferry, or helicopter, Fisher Island is home to a tiny population of around 600 residents.
But while it may be the most famous luxury address in the region, it’s far from the only one.
Last year, the South Florida Business Journal compiled a list of the area’s wealthiest ZIP codes using United States Census Bureau data and the Zillow home value index for March 2024. The list utilized per capita income, typical home value, poverty rate, land area, and population to dictate its final rankings. (Note: Fisher Island was excluded from the list because its population is under 1,000, but we’ve included it here – because, well, what would a list of Miami’s richest neighborhoods be without it?)
