If you’re an only child, I’m gonna clue you in on something: You don’t know what real fighting is until you have a brother or sister to battle. Sure, we all love our siblings. But something about that similar DNA will inevitably annoy you to the point of violence. Now, picture being in a car, driving across the country and competing 24/7 with said sibling.
Escape Routes contestants Wilson and Sharon know what we’re talking about.

the less adventurous younger sister of The Amazing Race. Six couples are
driving from city to city for $100,000 and a
brand new Ford Escape. Why should you support brother and sister duo
Wilson and Sharon? Because they are the only team from Florida, duh.
Oh yeah, and there’s one more reason to watch: I’m judging.
Undeniably, Escape Routes is the most product placement-y show on TV. (The title alone references the Ford Escape.) But it’s also one of the most fan-friendly. First, everything about this program is interactive. All the contestants
have iPods, iPads, iPhones, etc. and chat with the viewers throughout
their road trip. Their car rides are also streamed live online, so you can see
people like Team Florida fight constantly. (And they do. Fight constantly, that is.) Then, if you can’t wait till
Saturday for the show, they also live-stream the competition portion
every Tuesday. So, it’s like The Amazing Race meets Big Brother.
And I’m not just saying that because I’ll be appearing on the show as a
judge. But, um, while we’re on the subject, I will be on tv this
Saturday at 8 p.m. So watch, okay?
Of course, the judging gig was just icing on the reality TV cake — my real job when I visited the set was to get the behind-the-scenes scoop from Team Florida itself. So after all my judging duties were over and done with, I caught up Wilson and Sharon before they packed up their Fords and headed out of Miami for good.
Watch this space for a review of this Saturday’s show, with plenty of backstage insight from yours truly. And in the meantime, go Florida go!
