You know what constitutes a great birthday in our eyes? When the birthday girl or boy (or luxury hotel) gives us a present to celebrate the day.
In this case, the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove turns 10 on October 8 — and will celebrate by offering spa treatments and three-course meals for ten bucks.
The resort is in the middle of a renovation, with its lobby lounge, Lazuli, and fountain terrace getting the bulk of the face-lift.
On October 10 (10/10 — get it?) from 7 to 10 p.m., the lounge will be unveiled with a party featuring complimentary signature cocktails, passed hors d’oeuvres, a champagne toast, and live entertainment.

The party is free to hotel guests and invited locals (consider yourself invited), but you must RSVP by phoning 305-365-4528. Did we mention complimentary valet parking is included? Cocktail-chic attire is requested. We think that’s what they call “puttin’ on the Ritz.”
The hotel will also celebrate its anniversary by offering a
three-course dinner at Bizcaya every Tuesday in October
for $10. There is, of course, a catch.
There are only five
reservations for parties of two available each Tuesday evening for the

information. The special menu includes a watercress-and-frisée salad
with plantain chips and goat cheese, beef medallions with potato and
asparagus, and volcano chocolate cake with vanilla ice
cream and fresh berries.
If you want a little romantic
staycation, the Ritz-Carlton is also offering rooms at $108.02 per night
(two rooms maximum per reservation). The special rate is available on

Sure, it seems like a little work is involved to snag these deals —
