A couple of shows chalk full of pop-punk are coming to Culture Room. First up is the West Palm Beach-based Hey Monday, who are on the verge of being pop-punk’s next big thing. Sure pop-punk bands are a dime-a-trillion, but this local act has a beautiful female lead singer (in appearance and vocally) and a sound custom made the kids to love and bitter bloggers to scoff at. Tickets for the December 27 show go on sale Friday via Ticketmaster.

January 18. Most interesting thing about FYS? Earlier this year they

released an album of ’90s covers called Explains it All. They covered

bands like Everclear, Nirvana, the Smashing Pumpkins, and Third Eye

Blind, finally bucking the annoying “Let’s do pop-punk covers of ’80s

songs” and starting their own brand new trend. Personally, I can’t wait

to see the ’90s become deified like the ’80s have been for the last

twenty years. Thanks FYS for fighting the good fight. The Bled, This

Time Next Year, and Title Fight will be joining FYS on this tour.
