Fooq's is part French, part Italian, part Persion, but not at all confused. The North Miami Avenue space that once held the eclectic Nemesis Urban Bistro has been transformed into a cozy dining room where owner David Foulquier and chef Nicole Votano ply the dishes they know best. Foulquier supplies the Persian pomegranate chicken. Juicy thighs are draped in a rich Persian gravy called fesejan that's livened with molasses, ground walnuts, and a bevy of fragrant spices. Votano brings a smoky bucatini all’amatriciana that matches hefty handfuls of chili flakes and bacon with a generous knot of precise, al dente noodles. Persian and Italian together doesn't seem to make sense, but under the care of this pair, it's all you need.
