Every Wednesday from 5 p.m. to midnight, Fifty transforms into a locals-only zone for those who reside in the area or spend their weekdays laboring in one of the many high-rises in Miami’s Financial District. At the strike of 5 o’clock, denizens can ditch the parking lot, walk to the Viceroy (485 Brickell Ave., Miami), and make their way to Fifty, where they will soar high above the city, enjoy cocktails, and watch the sun set as the city lights illuminate the skyline.
Complimentary hors d’oeuvres are served from 5 to 7 p.m., and drinks and select bottles of wine and spirits are half off all night. Those who show proof of Brickell residence or employment can bring a friend along (non-Brickellites will be accepted) and get in free.
Amid the nightly masses at Fado Irish Pub, Blue Martini, and Taverna Opa in Mary Brickell Village, the local crowd seemed to have been forgotten, set on the social back burner in favor of an overwhelming cluster of college students and tourists. Between overcrowding and overpriced drinks, Miamians were left with few options where they could go midweek to unwind and mingle with others of their ilk.
Then Fifty at the Viceroy began its weekly party for locals, the
