Sure, if Arana, Perez or Pratts ever show up to Gus' house, Gus won't survive the day. Gus, protect yourself!
-
X3S 01/30/2011 6:13:00 PM
You are either a cop or related to one. And you are also a liar, but that's redundant.
-
X3S 01/30/2011 6:11:00 PM
You are either a cop or related to a cop. And by the way, it's LOSER, not LOOSER, you dumb ass.
-
X3S 01/30/2011 6:06:00 PM
Wow, I didn't know our cops were THAT uneducated. How's this: if you think he was a coward as a cop, then how about creating a new type of cop that goes out on calls along with you "real" violent cops. The new cop's only job would be to keep a short leash on you rabid dogs, to protect the PEOPLE from the likes of you. Oh, and ALL COPS SHOULD BE VIDEO RECORDED 100% OF THE TIME THEY ARE ON DUTY. Maybe even off duty too, since they have the power to do whatever the hell they want while off duty too.
-
Aaaa 01/30/2011 6:00:00 PM
Cops don't have to be very educated, and it shows.
-
Nowhere 01/30/2011 5:58:00 PM
Well, I certainly don't want cops doing what you have been, which is beating up innocent people and testi-lying about it.
-
X3S 01/30/2011 5:56:00 PM
Good job by those cops, but YOU are disheartened by the cop bashing, but NOT FOR THE THUGS AMONG YOUR RANKS??????????????
-
X3S 01/30/2011 5:54:00 PM
So police commendations are like the golden star stickers we put on a kindergarten kid's homework. Takes a slug to know a slug.
-
X3S 01/30/2011 5:52:00 PM
Are you retiring? After only 20 years, making full salary? We now have to support you dam ass for the rest of your life? How many innocent people did you beat and then lie on the police report? You should be prosecuted, not retiring.
-
X3S 01/30/2011 5:50:00 PM
You mean, leave the real job of beating innocent victims and hiding from REAL crooks to you liar piece of shit cops.
-
X3S 01/30/2011 5:49:00 PM
why should we believe you, you lying piece of shit cop?
-
X3S 01/30/2011 5:46:00 PM
The dept is FULL of dirtbag cops. You're right, we shouldn't be paying for all the lawsuits. We should just clean house and FIRE the 75% bad cops that are costing the county millions in lawsuits!
-
X3S 01/30/2011 5:42:00 PM
The way you write, it looks like you've been in jail for years.
-
Alex 01/30/2011 5:38:00 PM
The WILL arrive late, no matter what. They try to avoid confronting the crooks and just take reports afterwards. You are a piece of shit cop.

X3S 01/30/2011 5:36:00 PM
because they are afraid of cops too!

I was being poisoned by my family! my wife Joan Wagar was having an affair with a man named Eric Carlson at East Port Walmart and they decided they wanted me dead!
They both have relatives in law enforcement and those relatives gave them permission to poison me to death and those officers covered it up at the hospital!
I caught them all on a audio recorder admitting to this murder conspiracy and they were framing me for their crimes as well, and you can tell by listening to it that they had a lot of fun molesting children and giving me blame behind my back!
I was very ill at the time, stuck at home, too ill to go anywhere and my family pretended nothing's wrong while my wife poisoned me!
everyone in my family knew of my wife's affair, they knew Eric Carlson was almost a twin to me, and they all kept it a secret from me while my wife poisoned me and Eric Carlson framed me, my family knew they were doing this to me!
I was surrounded by people that conspired with my wife to pretend nothing's wrong and those relatives in law enforcement just covered it up at the hospital!
I was a plasma donor and everyone in the family knew it and they did not care that my wife Joan Wagar was guilty even when I found her hidden poison in the fucking kitchen!
I am badly crippled from being poisoned and I am currently being blackmailed at the threat of death by these people in law enforcement and by family members while they continue to harm others!
They already confessed to the murder of a missing runaway, last name Hunter, I caught them admitting to that on a audio recorder, I don't remember the first name but I secured that audio!
In 2008 they murdered Donna Minor, Joan Wagar's mother, while Eric Carlson's brother who is in law enforcement were above my apartment and they were trying to hide it!
They later bragged on a audio death threat they will kill more if I don't do what they want and that I will "See it!" if I don't!
Ever since I caught them on a audio recorder they brag on audio recordings!

these latin cops down here are the worst. im latin too. but its true. they revel and love confrontations, but only when the odds are in their favor. i think most suffer from an identity crisis too, they are all jacked up on roids, cuban coffee, and most of them shave their arms and legs. at my gym, i busted one of them shaving another guys back. its crazy. then ya give these wacos a gun and a badge and give them carte blanche on the streets. its complete and utter insanity. but all the weird gay locker stuff im not worried about. its when you see how they are increasingly militarizing the police. btw, thanks adams for speaking out.
-
Teflon 09/15/2010 9:06:00 PM
This story is 99.9% true in my eyes, I know both Nate and Adams and they are two very fine officers. I use to work with them until I was injured and forced out by any and every means possible. You think they have a story to tell if some of the guys knew this was me writing I am sure they would be feeling a bit stressed now. I rather tell my story to the feds because of cover ups like the one you just read about. I could care less about a Good Ole Boy or a Click. Contact me and see. Teflon

Whenever a cop gets behind me on the highway, or any road for that matter, my hands get sweaty, my heart beats fast, sweat pours from my head, and pray that I just appear safe at home. I'm a 37 year old hard-working person with a four year college degree who had a VERY, VERY bad and life changing incident with a simple traffic stop and did not deserve to be pulled over in the first place. I was a the wrong place, wrong time, who got pulled over by someone wearing a badge who thought they were God. I won't go into details about what happened, but I will forever think less of our Country and even lesser about those supposed to protect us in times of dire need.

G#Ken 09/11/2010 9:17:00 PM
Tiredofthisshit: You have no idea, do you. How many times do the police EVER arrive when a crime is actually taking place? They do not. They come and write reports AFTER THE FACT, but the only time thy happen to STOP crimes is when a criminal is dumb enough to do something in front of them or they happen to stumble upon the scene of a crime in progress. The courts have ruled time and time again that the police have no legal responsibility to protect anyone from becoming the victim of a crime.
Case in point: The cops arrived at Columbine HS and WAITED outside until they had a force the size of the armed forces of Panama before they would consider acting. By then, Harris and Klebold had committed suicide and more than a dozen were dead. You WAIT outside during a hostage situation, you ACT when people are actively being killed. They had the nerve to say if they acted, more people would be dead. Maybe a cop or two would be, but maybe a couple of the people they are supposed to PROTECT wouldn't be. I am tired of YOUR s**t. Get off your high horses and realize that most people don't see the cops as our friends any more. Then, ask yourselves why???
-
Derfel Cadarn 09/10/2010 10:36:00 PM
Correct Frank Adams is a hero. The police are completely out of hand,if not for official standing they would as a terrorist group. With the FedGov militarization of the police they have become the standing army our founders warned us about. We are always told that it is a few bad apples in the barrel.BULLSH*T!! All that is required for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing.
Frank Adams=Good man

Wow, this sure is telling. All the trolls (cops) comments on this page sound like they're written by two year olds. Maybe if you write in all caps, you will really be heard. Why don't you go back and get your high school diploma or at least a ged. You may think you're sooo smart but to anyone with an education you sound like idiots. Standing up for a system that is corrupt only furthers my point. You can't tell right from wrong, you have too much cognitive dissonance. (look it up) Go crawl back in your hole, we wouldn't need your "help" for anything.

Sometimes doing the right thing may be difficult however it will always be righteous and no one can take that away. deceitful. In my opinion the officers with their own agenda; these individuals are not fulfilling their sworn duty to protect and to serve. For those that go beyond and do the unthinkable; they are simply criminals carrying a badge and a weapon.
As Mr. Adams parent said "Treat others the way you want to be treated."
We live in a complex society with many different cultures and nationalities. Doing the right thing will always be righteous.

When the day comes and it will! May those officers attending your call arrive late! May whatever situation you find yourself in be one that you suffer at the hands of a criminal! Pieces of shit like you low lives in this forum are why are society is so F*&^*( up!

I had to move out of Miami because of all the crooked Cuban cops down there. I was arrested twice for no reason at all. The Cuban police are like a street gang or like the mafia. How can police have tattoos and ride around in plain clothes and regular cars. I was stopped once and they never even said they were cops or showed me a badge. Go officer Adams. Keep an eye on those Cuban criminals in police uniforms and keep them from arresting and beating black people for no reason.
P.S. i told the one cop he couldnt search me without cause because of the constitution and he said "fuck the constitution." Send his ass back to Cuba please.

Yes this man should suffer he has known about these type of cover ups for years just like Mayor Carlos Alvarez, he was a police officer also for the same agency do you believe that he has never done any thing like this in his long career. Let him Suffer the MDPD should do to him liek they do to everybody else arrest him and lie on him and prosecute him .
-
Edison Graduate 1978 09/06/2010 8:21:00 PM
The Mayor of Miami-Dade County Carlos Alvarez was a police officer for Miami-Dade County and he may have been involved in lying and falsfication of police arrest affidavits - don't feel sorry for this man he covered for these people he just got tired of doing it so let him suffer - now we all know but how soon it is forgotten - all police officers at some point in the job lie, falsify police reports and issue false citations and yes violate federal civil rights, so you must never trust any police officer never trust any police officer

Whether Mr Adams is a good guy or full of crap is irrelevant. From the comments here, it is obvious that people are FED UP with the abuse from cops. You guys protect anyone? Please! You show up after the fact and write reports. How many crimes do you break up?
You're real good at sitting in your cars until there are enough of you to "safely" go out and confront the bad guy. Hey wait a minute. I thought you guys should get paid more because you "put your lives on the line". lol. Sure you do. Tell me another one.
Police have grown immune to the fact that are there to "serve" the public, not themselves.
You are jaded because you encounter so many bad people? Well, boo F$%^& hoo. That's what you get paid for. If you can't treat the public with the respect they deserve, get another job or shoot yourselves. Just leave the rest of us alone!

This cop is correct for what he is doing, but the department is corrupt, so, they will find anything they can on him to get rid of him, or press some type of charge. I was a policeman for twenty years, I found the same type of behavior in my federal department, it is systemic in policing to cover for bad conduct, when it is someone the department deems a good cop, because of his many arrest. The problem is many of the arrest are tainted by misconduct, the upper management doesn't care, because it appears they are "Cleaning the streets."

"We need to have more police officers like Mr. Adams"??? The fact of the matter IS....WE can't afford NOT to have police officers like Frank Adams. There is no excuse for much of the trash that many police dept's continue to employ. They don't serve the public, they create HUGE expenses to the taxpayer because of their wreckless and criminal behaviour, and they CONTAMINATE good police officers. The huge amount of dirty, disrepctful, obvious psychopathic police allowed to abuse the public are the number ONE reason for the public's disdain for law enforcement officers. Kudos to Mr. Frank Anderson, but he should be the RULE rather than the exception. If one of the ONE shining stars, who is risking his own health and future--to do what ALL police should be doing, isn't elevated to a position to make an absolute change in the MPD, and thus a GREAT example of what law enforcement SHOULD BE, then it's very obvious where the corruption, incompetence, and disdain for the public within the police dept lies at......the chief and upper mgmnt supervisors.
Thank-you Officer Frank Adams. You are truly a credit to REAL law enforcement AND humanity.

we need more officers like this with respect and honor for the job. Its a priveledge these cops have to much discretion and do as they please they are worse than the criminals except they get away with it and get paid for it. god bless this man

Mommy 09/04/2010 4:18:00 AM
Well Mr. Mario, I'm glad you brought up that point. I would put my name but I'm a civilian and no one here would know who I am anyway. I see that there is a lot of police officers writing comments in favor of Mr. Adams who are using fake names if they are so proud and support this coward Mr. Adams why don't they show some courage and use their real names and where they work. If you want to talk about cowards this are the real cowards and liars. As for Mr. Adams you should check his past it is public records and a very long past and not a very good one. I must say. You should check all the facts before you make any comments.
-

Guys, don't be fooled, this guy has sued the Department multiple times, and he is just trying to get paid. He is bringing up an alledge incident that occured six years ago?..Come on people!!!, if a crime did occured, he should be arrested for taking part on it and not doing anything about it. Six years later?...people!!! He wants money!!!....Your Money!!!, We all pay taxes!!!, if this was real, it would be all over the news SIX YEARS AGO!!!!

Guest 09/04/2010 1:27:00 AM
Dave2, I don't know, you sound like you have been a witness or a victim of this, where do you get your facts? You write like this is a common practice, because you have experienced it. Tell us your story, because if you are going to use a guy like Frank Adams as a credible source, maybe you should do a little research on who he is before making a fool of yourself by agreeing with him. From here, you sound like a tree hugging, vegeterian, we are the world kind of guy, so man up!!, and lets hear your horrible life experiences that you might of encounter in this perfect little world of yours...Maybe you got a traffic ticket, and you consider that police brutality. AGAIN, lets hear your professional experience...MAN UP!!!!
-
Um 09/04/2010 1:18:00 AM
Dear police officers on this comment thread: Are you really surprised or indignant that so much of the public hates you? Have you seen any of the daily instances of police abusing the public and then getting a paid vacation for it? All I see are these stories, and 90% of the time I personally interact with the police they are rude and harass me. So you sometimes actually do the service you're paid by us to do, good, but that doesn't negate everything else.
-
Stoney browning 09/04/2010 12:35:00 AM
This is the problem! Here we find an honest, caring, and courageous Police Officer, who unfortunately is in the MINORITY! Standing up for what is right, and being ostracized, and attacked for it, by his fellow cops!
-
Mario 09/03/2010 9:07:00 PM
The fact that you bunch of crooked coward cops in this comment forum can't even use your names and use names such as spiderman, mommy, etc. is not only sad but proves this guy's point. You are cowards who abuse the law and think you can get away with anything you do because of the crooked system that protects you over any citizen. Why don;t you post your real name and rank as well as your record (since you are all bashing Mr Adams) and let us judge if you have the proper ethic and values to even comment here.
-
Chris 09/03/2010 7:13:00 PM
Wow, so there really is -one- honest, law-abiding cop in the USA.
-
Anna21 09/03/2010 12:02:00 PM
To begin with you two anonymous low lifes that was so scared to put your real name on your article needs to sit back and think about how you two positioned yourself. And the fact you'll came out of your mouth like that defines you two as one of those crooket cops that did that vicious crime. You know nothing about officer Frank Adams. He was doing his job as he took a oath to do when he first got his badge. Some cops have forgotten that and abuse the law. We need more cops like Frank Adams at least he is doing his job and not making fake cop stories to sound like to sound like you did a heroic job when you know the only thing you did was walmart detail all day and help the little old lady find her car. For all of you that has a problem with Officer Frank Adams come better then that and remember if your writing ANONYMOUSLY DON'T BOTHER because ANONYMOUS people don't count! Later...
-
Brittni 09/03/2010 11:12:00 AM
What a courageous man to publicly report the corruption. I commend him, and not only that, I pray for him and his family, and pray that the abuse in Miami stops. I have long thought that Miami cops are brutally forceful in their "protection" of the public. Cops needs to realize that they are not above the law. Not only should more cops be like Adams, but more people should be like him.
How dare some of you say bad things about this man. I live in St. Louis had have my whole life, and sure, living in a big city you get your police brutality moments. But for living 10 mins from "the most dangerous city in the US" I would say I hear one per year. You need to take a step back, and realize that this man is doing what he feels is right in wake of something that he feels is wrong. For you people, I have an appropriate Shakespeare quote, "Something is rotten in the state of Denmark".
-
Spiderman 09/03/2010 9:37:00 AM
WOW, I don't know were to start! Adams has been a piece of garbage since day one on the department. The first thing that comes to mind is that he should have NEVER been rehired after he resigned the first time. He went thru 3-4 other occupations before he went back to MDPD? Sounds like he should have stayed a "teachers aide", its much safer. He has been a consistent and constant problem child, feigning injuries or illness every time he is asked about his job performance. Now he is using the Miami New Times to save his ass. I don't know who did the fact checking on this one, but geez, Koonce as a character witness is hilarious. If the readers even remotely believe this guy is honorably serving the community, than I have some prime real estate for sale in the everglades for sale you can buy.
-
LaKota 09/03/2010 7:16:00 AM
Adams did the right thing. Sadly though, he'll have to watch his and his family's back from now on. The last Miami detective who stumbled upon Miami cops gunning down unarmed black males and planting throw-down weapons at the scene to cover their arse received death threats and had to have federal protection when he exposed the truth. I don't know what became of him. As this was in the 1990s. It's ironic, but not surprising, how both cops, criminals and gang-members adhere to the same DON'T SNITCH codes.
-
LaKota 09/03/2010 7:06:00 AM
How Terribly sad! The very people who are suppose to serve and protect citizens, those citizens now have to live in fear of? More so than they have to fear the most dangerous criminal on the streets. I've never felt the need to take any recording devices with me everytime I leave my home for fear of some horrible criminal kidnapping, assaulting me as I do now when I leave home I always carry recording devices to protect me if I'm stopped by a cop. We all know the word of the cop will be taken over the word of the average citizen. Some have become so arrogant that they will tell you "no one's going to take your word over a cops."
-

tiredofthiscrap 09/03/2010 1:48:00 AM
Frank I think you’re full of shit. I am sure somewhere deep down inside your useless self you will realize the true piece of crap you are. If these officers committed a crime and you sir stood by ideally that makes you as much as a criminal. The law is clear in this state if you commit or are around when a felony is committed you are as guilty as the ones committing the crime. Therefore, you should not receive accolades by those individuals here in this venue trying to vent their personal frustrations with LEO(s). You sir should be investigated and charged by the SAO for your involvement. But because you’re a poor black man in Miami it makes it easier to drive the RACE card against the Latino cops.
Most of the negative comments about police officers normally stem from those that have been through the system and are angry they have been caught. The bottom line is when you need help who do you call? These men in women in law enforcement put their lives on the line every day without hesitation to the first stranger that comes asking for help!
Before you continue to degrade these fine men and women why? Don’t you say, Thank you, for doing a great job for such shitty pay and yes, let’s weed out those bad apples. You all are the same bunch of hippocrits that sit around talking crap about the politicians as well. Yet you won’t go out to vote and bring meaningful change. You just sit there on your laurels talking shit.

I can reiterate the comment below about 12 commendations in 14 years. That is no big deal. This does not make Frank a "great cop."
-
smith 09/02/2010 11:09:00 AM
PETE1729: WIth over a ten years as a cop I think I have over 40 commendations. They arent a big deal. Sometimes you get them for just being in the right place at the right time. Or being part of a larger operation for which you had little significant involvement. I have thrown some of mine away simply because "I Knew" that my simply being there, did not merit one. 14 years and 12 commendations, sounds like a slug.
-
Retiringcop 09/02/2010 11:04:00 AM
Some ( note that I write "some") people are so extreme. Some people love to bash cops and use this article as proof of their proclamations that we cops are all a bunch of liars just wanting to make a lot of money and beat people up. It's been a very disheartening part of my career. But I'll post the following from today's news:
(possibly someone will respond that we only saved them so that we can benefit somehow or that it's our job anyway. It's nice to get a little kudos every once in a while from the people we work to protect. Thank you CBS4.)

Mr. Adams,
You sir, are a true Peace Officer. Thank you for your courage.
A citizen

Penco, please try to defend the police without acting like a fool. You're doing nothing more than distracting from the actual issue at hand, police misconduct, by using the rhetorical trick known as "poisoning the well".
-
Penco 09/02/2010 9:42:00 AM
Wow, I can't believe Frank Adams got people pissed off about Police Officers. Guys before you believe this story, make sure you review Adams personnel file. This will be an indication of how credible this invidual really is. You talk about accountability of money? Just check the times this guy has sued the police department for finacial compensation, or even better, see how productive this individual really was, and don't compare it to other police officers, but compare it to your job as a civilian and see if his work is worth of compensation..I bet a security guard makes more contacts with citizens in a week, than this guy did in his career in the most violent district of MDPD. NOT EVERYTHING YOU HEAR IS REAL...come on people!!!. Do you want police officers going after criminals, or you want them to drive up and down the street without solving anything and collecting tax payers money.
-
bigplrbear 09/02/2010 3:12:00 AM
Mr.Adams, thank you for your service to the community. Also, thank you for confirming what most law-abiding citizens already know- most cops are complete ass holes who take advantage of people.
Cops are there to help people, not make money or get greedy with power. As a taxpayer (ya know, one of the guys that provides the money for you cops to live off of?), I want the ability to fire any cop that shows any bit of negligence for the law.
Once again, Thank you Mr. Adams

Want to improve the quality of police officers? Have them all tested for steroids. As far as I know steroids is a controlled ILLEGAL substance that promotes aggression and bad judgement. Go after the juicers and we'll all see a lot less misconduct cases.
-
Ed 09/02/2010 1:42:00 AM
If more police were like Frank Adams, spoke up and took responsibility for police misconduct, there wouldn't a huge number of people who hate the police.
Over the last 5 years numerous stories on the internet of police getting away with brutality has brewed an intense hatred amongst the public. If this is not dealt with something bad will probably happen, and given the comments here from other police officers my hopes are not high.

I see the ranks are closing and the thin blue line is making an appearance. http://cbs4.com/topstories/Miami.News.CBS4.2.395528.html Here's par for the course. This man is to be congratulated and supported. Those police officers who hide the wrongdoings of their fellow officers are no better than the 'brothers' they protect. You blue cowards should be ashamed, and subject to the same abuses you heap on the innocent. Double.
-
Jeff 09/02/2010 12:32:00 AM
Peter: Thank you for the capitals. It is much easier to read this way. It really help put your comment into perspective.
It sounds like you might work in this very police force.
I am sure mixing soap and water and having someone drink it is much fun.
This one time I sprayed my windsheild washer fluid and it hit some guy in the eye. He cried... I guess he should not have been walking there.
I am curious about your suspension for being a coward statement.
What did he not do? Because I remember this one time in grade school we were all going to beat up this guy because he wore trashy clothes, he must have been so poor. This was going to be great, unfortunately during the time before we planned his but kicking, I had to sit next to him in class. I got to know him and found out that his father had died... Poor kid, they could not afford nice clothes or anything anymore as his dad was the provider and mom is now on welfare. When it came to his beating, I was a coward, as my friends told me. And I was, because I did not stand up for this kid getting beat.
So Mr. Adams, I congradulate you, for stepping up from your "cowardness".
-
Dave2 09/02/2010 12:17:00 AM
Wow, look at the comments here defending the police:
1. They're all borderline illiterate.
2. They never even address the actual issue of police misconduct. Instead, they just attack Adams.
3. They don't even try to substantiate any of their attacks on Adams. They just call him names and invent zero-evidence speculations about his motives.
Anybody want to defend the police who isn't a complete fool?
-
Anthony 09/02/2010 12:11:00 AM
One thing is true about all police officers, even if they act honorably they will ALWAYS cover up for each other. This is a sickening abuse of power. Therefore all police officers are part of the problem.
I say we (the citizens who pay their salaries with our taxes) should make a quota to fire 5% of the worst every year.
-
real police 09/01/2010 11:25:00 PM
Adams has a history of lying and a history of being useless, the taxpayers deserve accountability in policing. For example if a officer works a 8 hour shift he/she should respond to calls and in between seek out criminals and traffic violators, some of whom are the same. This will result in arrests, tickets etc., which add up at the end of the day and month.
Adams only talks to the hookers and is afraid to stop anyone. He always works midnights due to less work and more hookers. He has never interacted with the community nor done anything positive.
Mr Garcia-Roberts ask to see his personnel file and his statistical production monthliy evals; compared to the average.
And you quote Koonce??? check his background hmmmmmmmmm. You are losing all you credibility by writing a story before you check the facts. No cops here at Northside condone brutality and risk their lives daily to protect and serve and its outright outrageous that you would write a story without verifying the facts.

This is exactly why the Black community has no trust for the police department. These lawless police officers need to be fired and prosecuted by the State Attorney's office

I believe this officer is telling the truth. I too had a bad experience with a Miami-Dade officer. I have never been in trouble, and called for police help in a burglary situation, I stayed on the phone with 911 untill officers arrived, ( I was on a neighbors phone who happened to be an FBI agent & he was standing next to me the whole time.) One of the officers who arrived was very rude & threatened to take me to jail, & LIED said he caught me climbing out of a window. THANK GOD the FBI agent was standing next to me, to disclaim this LIARS statement, and to think MIAMI would call this man, an "officer of the law"...to this I say...HAHA

close to retirement cop 09/01/2010 6:57:00 PM
In my 18 years in MDPD, I have seen things that are overboard. I don't know Frank, but I don't believe he is lying. The cops he is talking about ARE good cops in that they do go after truly bad guys and WORK, unlike many zeros that are being mentioned.
The problem that MDPD has is that for WAY TOO LONG, it's hiring has been piss poor. They do not actively recruit able bodied (meaning IN SHAPE) intelligent individuals. When they do get them, its by mere chance. Dumb-asses are hired constantly, people with bad attitudes, people in poor health. Need proof? Go spend and hour at the main courthouse. Take an average of the shape of every MDPD "brown gown" you see. Measure that against the average "blue unformed" officers you see (from the different cities). Just as it is obvious MDPD has out of shape officers, they have dumb officers lacking knowledge, experience, life skills. This translates to cops on the road that go too far sometimes, i.e. arresting someone who needs to be arrested, but not knowing when to stop using force. Maybe the arresstee pulls his arm away, wants to argue... too many times force is used to make the arrest and then some more force is added on because the officer's ego was insulted, they've got something too prove, macho attitudes... it is very much there in MDPD. Director Jim Loftus is a GREAT individual. I hope he cleans out the swelled heads, the zeros, and sets a standard for recruiting when it starts again, to transition this department to one of solid well rounded cops, not people who barely made the grade and passed academy with a 70% and are now wearing a badge. There are LOADS of good people looking for the great job I have, so why not TAKE THE CREME OF THE CROP when selecting new hires, not just whoever meets minimums.

It is impressive and honorable to have any person speak out aginst injustice.Sadly, police officers habitually and cobsistently lie on arrest reports. They doctor and fabricate the "FACTS" in order to justify an arrest and in attempts to solidify a case and probable conviction. The same officers sworn to uphold the law and protrect the community from crime many times violate their oaths and break the laws. I do not believe most officers are bad or simply have no conscience or problem lying on reports and even under oath, but unfortunately many incidents are embellished and misrepresented in order to be legitimzed and justify. As in everything in life there will always be bad apples who will lie , cheat and have no remorse of their actions. I believe this usually describes a criminal or at the very least a very unsavorable person and if that individual is a cop than those officers who do believe in justice , who respect the law and abide by the law should not tolerate, accept or allow these individuals to violate the laws they are sworn and paid to enforce. Just because your partner is a fellow officer and you are a fraternity of "brothers" should that incorporate the blind eye and code of silence culture. Protecting a fellow officer , having his back is expected and necessary but not with lies and cooperation with injustice.
Officer Adams is an honorable and honest man. A good officer, an officer this community and department should be proud of. I'm sure there are many , many officers just as honest as Adams and hopefully his courage will allow them the srength to do right and protect and enforce correctly.
Officer Adams, I will pray for the dark days ahead and that your coleagues, superiors and the department and community recognizes your actions. Hopefully your inability to just stay silent or go with the flow will result in much needed accountibility in wrong actions and by wrong doers, even if they are police officers.
Watch your back and God bless you.

I have read a great deal of scepticism about Frank Adams here. The article says he's a 14 year veteran LEO with 12 commenations, is this incorrect?

LanaGaf 09/01/2010 11:00:00 AM
There will always be stories of Law Enforcement Officers doing wrong. I for one would like to thank the Law Enforcement Officers, that are out there making a difference. If it was my name on this story by this guy Frank Adams. It would be simple for me. I would just send him a letter from my attorney telling Mr. Adams to Cease and Desist and Govern himself accordingly.
It said in the story, Adams observed all of this. I would like to know why this guy Frank Adams did not stop these actions from happening. This was wrong and he did not act. Is he not wrong as well......... I may not understand but, is this guy Frank Adams a cop or a reporter? Why didn't he stop this from happening, if this was wrong and happening in-front of him. Come on, This guy sounds like a little kid MOMMY, MOMMY there hitting him, Im telling. What a LOOSER.....
One more thing if it is true and these guys did kick and punch these BAD GUYS good for you guys. Please can you come and work were I live so the BAD GUYS know they will get there ASSES kicked if they do any crimes in my area. Maybe, Crime will go down instead of up..
To all the men and women of law enforcement keep looking up and thank you for keeping us safe..........

If you ever worked at Northside District you would know that Officer Frank Adams was not a real cop (zero.)Now that I've read this artilcle, not only do I believe he's a zero, but he is also a liar. The Officers in this article are individuals that I have personally seen make a difference in the Northside Community. They have made the community safer for law abiding citizens and difficult for criminals.
-
El Nica 09/01/2010 6:47:00 AM
What a sell out. The main subject in article has always been known as a "zero." Now, he will be known as a liar. Wow, the character reference is who? Didn't he almost get arrested for ... What a joke. This reporter needs to get a new career. Gus Garcia-Roberts, do yourself a favor, do some good research before you write something like this again. I laughed out loud throughout, but then I thought it was extremely sad. Gus, if you ever needed a cop, pray to your god that Officer Arana, Perez, or Pratts responded to you instead of the main subject in your article.

WOW! About time someone step up to the plate and just be honest and fair. Im praying for you Mr Adams because we all know that the police can be cruel and uncompassionate. love you man.
-
Wow. 09/01/2010 5:26:00 AM
That is a seriously one sided attack on the officers involved. What makes "Frank Adams" word golden?
Were any of the officers involved cleared of any of this? Did the reporter verify if the officers who's reputation he is disputing were found guilty of any crimes?
To me it sounds like "Frank Adams" is looking for a pay day, hes suing the county all ready according to the article.
also stats based evaluations are unfair? How do we the tax paying public know that your doing your JOB if we can't keep track of your production? I mean otherwise you could sit around all day and do nothing. I don't agree with giving police qoutas, but to expect to do nothing and get good evaluations sounds like a scam to me.
