Isn’t embracing things of the past the new thing? In Key Biscayne, the Rusty Pelican is
rewinding to 1972 – the year it opened – with a “Summer of 1972” menu. Start
with your choice of soup or salad and follow with an entrée for, you guessed it,
$19.72 (plus tax and tip). You can enjoy such jewels as Nixon’s “perfectly clear”
consommé, Waldorf salad and chicken Kona Kai. Throw in dessert (cherries
jubilee, anyone?) for an extra $4.72 or a 1970s cocktail for $5. The menu,
available from June 20 to July 3, is the Rusty Pelican’s way to celebrate its last
days before it temporarily closes for renovations.
