After weeks of anticipation, Coral Gables has a new swanky steakhouse, and its predecessor will make locals head over in droves.

Daniel's Miami has opened on Wednesday, July 23, in Coral Gables, and for the team behind the new spot, this isn't new territory. The restaurant takes over the space that once housed Fiola Miami, and it's being run by many of the same people who helped build Fiola in South Florida.

Founded in 2018 as a partnership between Gioia Hospitality and chef Fabio Trabocchi, Fiola Miami earned a following for its polished service, well-done Italian dishes, and impressive wine list. After the two groups ended their management agreement, Fiola served its last meal in June. Gioia is now relaunching the space under its own name with Daniel’s Miami, which debuted in Fort Lauderdale in late 2024 and was added to the Michelin Guide within six months.

The Miami restaurant brings back founder Thomas Angelo and his daughter Kassidy Angelo, along with culinary director Danny Ganem, executive chef Luis Salcedo, director of operations Scott Ozler, and wine director Daniel Bishop.
"We are all very excited. Same team, but our concept and our brand," Angelo told New Times in May. "A lot of the same dishes, same wine list, great pastas, but now with a world-class steak program."

Steaks, Seafood Towers, and Pastas

Daniel’s Miami builds on its Fort Lauderdale sibling with a wide-ranging menu. Starters include housemade chips with Kaluga caviar and caramelized onion dip, hamachi crudo with strawberries and avocado-mint mousse, and a seafood chowder loaded with snapper, shrimp, and lobster. The raw bar covers oysters, cobia ceviche, and Wagyu tartare layered with caviar. Housemade pastas, like mezze rigate in a vodka sauce, classic bolognese, and lobster fra diavolo with a 1.5-pound Maine lobster, anchor the pasta offerings.

The steak selection runs deep, with cuts from Florida, Texas, Australia, and the Midwest, including a 10-ounce Wagyu skirt, 36-ounce porterhouse, and 32-ounce tomahawk. Sauces and add-ons range from truffle butter to foie gras Rossini-style. Other mains include sesame-crusted tuna with fennel and olives, heritage chicken with preserved lemon, and a take on eggplant parm built around Parmigiano foam and Japanese eggplant. Sides are equally decadent: lobster mac and cheese, truffled potato fonduta, creamed spinach with local Malabar greens, and rosemary fries with Parmigiano and onion ketchup.

New Look, Same Address

The reworked bar area now features a new countertop, updated seating, and TVs. It's designed to accommodate casual meals and walk-in guests. The bar menu includes bits like a double patty smash burger, cacio e pepe, and rotating comfort food options.

Daniel Bishop brings back the same wine list that earned Fiola a six-year streak of Wine Spectator recognition. Bartender Cesar Lopez joins the beverage team with both new and returning cocktails like "Daniel's Martini" and the "Canyon Margarita," since Daniel's Fort Lauderdale took over the former Canyon Restaurant there.

Murano glass chandeliers are sprinkled about, while original photography by David Yarrow lines the walls. The private dining room remains intact, and La Terrazza, the rooftop terrace, will continue hosting events under its original name.

Daniel’s Miami will open for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. Starting August 1, it will participate in Miami Spice, offering three-course menus and a five-course Wagyu tasting experience. Reservations are available on Resy.com.
