Miami's popular sushi spot Omakai Sushi is closing out the year with six brand new locations, including Miami's first hand roll bar, with the grand opening of its newest outpost in Doral opening this Friday, December 20, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 6 p.m.
The sushi restaurant beloved by Miami's sushi-loving community has been on a roll with its expansion plans aiming to bring good-quality sushi to all neighborhoods in Miami.
Back in July, Omakai made it big on social media after a stellar review by viral TikToker Keith Lee during his visit to the Magic City. In only five months, Omakai has opened four locations, and now its portfolio includes a total of four Omakai sushi spots (Wynwood, Coconut Grove, Aventura, and Doral), plus two Omakai hand roll bars in Brickell and downtown Miami.
That's a Miami takeover if you ask us.
The announcement of its arrival in Doral comes just in time to close out the year. "We take great pride in creating memorable experiences and bringing people together through their shared love for exceptional sushi," says Diego Quijada, founder and CEO of Omakai. "The incredible support and enthusiasm surrounding our continued growth has been overwhelming, and we are thrilled to be able to bring our concept to another vibrant neighborhood in Miami."
The location will serve the brand's signature take on traditional nigiri sushi and hand rolls, as well as feature a variety of Omakai's fan-favorite offerings, including the "leave it up to us" course menus and specialty nigiri.
Inside, the fast-casual setting offers 2,045 square feet to seat 68 guests. The location serves lunch, dinner, and happy hour menus, along with its signature to-go "Homeakase" boxes.
Founded by three friends who lamented the area's lack of reasonably priced sushi, its first location opened in Wynwood in 2019. This year marks Omakai's five-year anniversary.
After such a successful year, it's only fair to wonder what the beloved sushi restaurant has in store for 2025.
