Alan Faena's vision will include the Faena Hotel Miami Beach, an 18-story condo called Faena House, and Faena Versailles residences. All properties will be located between 32nd and 36th Streets along Collins Avenue.
The hotel, however, is by far the most exciting part of the project for locals —unless you plan on purchasing a unit at one of the properties. (According to Zilbert, a penthouse at Faena House is under contract for $50 million, although a more modest 1,300-square-foot apartment can be had for a mere $2.5 million.) When opened, the Faena Hotel Miami Beach will offer 169 oversized rooms and suites, the Tierra Sana spa, a theater for live shows, a fitness center, an outdoor pool with pool bar, and several restaurants — each with an acclaimed chef at the helm.
The hotel's website states that chef Francis Mallmann will open his first U.S. restaurant at the property, focusing on Argentinian asado grilling. According to Food & Wine, the restaurant will be named Los Fuegos. Mallmann, the author of the book Seven Fires: Grilling the Argentine Way, is the owner of Francis Mallmann 1884 in Mendoza, Argentina, which was listed as one of Latin America's 50 Best Restaurants for its "gutsy meat-led cooking."
Top Chef alum Paul Qui will open his first restaurant outside of Austin, Texas. The chef was named one of Food & Wine's best new chefs in 2014 and owns Qui Austin, which combine his Japanese cooking skills with classical French training and the chef's Filipino background. No word yet what the name of his Miami restaurant is.
Rounding up this culinary trio is Gabriel Ask, who trained with Thomas Keller, Alain Ducasse, and Joël Robuchon. Ask will serve as the property's executive chef and will oversee the hotel's culinary program, according to Food & Wine. A while back, Ask posted the view from his new office on Instagram:
