Miami may be known for its electric nightlife, buzzy cocktail bars, and romantic restaurants, but if you ask me, the city’s dessert scene deserves just as much hype. From classic bakeries that have been part of family traditions for decades to wildly creative newcomers redefining what sweets can be, Miami is a true playground for anyone with a sweet tooth. Whether you’re craving a showstopping cake from Dbakers Sweet Studio, nostalgic slices from Sweet Art Cakes, or bean-to-bar chocolate from Exquisito Chocolates, this city knows how to do dessert right.

As a lifelong Miamian and food editor, I love how these dessert shops reflect the city itself: multicultural, joyful, and deeply rooted in community. You’ll find elegant chocolates at Garcia Nevett Chocolatier de Miami, trendsetting treats from the Salty, and iconic pies from Fireman Derek’s Bake Shop, alongside old-school ice cream parlors and hidden gems worth the drive, like Delices de France in Palmetto Bay. Just in time for Valentine’s Day on Saturday, February 14, here are the 17 best dessert shops in Miami, listed in alphabetical order.

Dbakers Sweet Studio is hands down one of the best dessert shops in Miami, and it’s where I go when I want a cake or cupcakes that actually make people gasp before they even take a bite. Founded by twin brothers Christian and Giancarlo, the bakery blends serious talent with pure joy, and you can feel that energy the second you walk in. Their cakes are my absolute favorite in the city: stunning, playful, and just as good as they look, with buttercream that dreams are made of and swirls of dulce de leche that are to die for. Every dessert feels personal, celebratory, and full of heart, which is exactly why Dbakers never misses. Multiple area locations, including 3501 NE Second Ave., Miami; 786-310-8763; dbakers.us.

Founded in 1994 by Patrick Baboun, this slice of France is a Palmetto Bay institution for baked goods, coffees, tarts, and pastries. The moment you walk in, you are overcome with the smell of fresh pastries and beautiful tarts. The croissants here are buttery and flaky, but you must try the almond croissant filled with housemade almond cream and sprinkled with powdered sugar, or the ham and cheese croissant. But you’d be remiss if you left Delices without indulging in the chocolate mousse or a fresh fruit tart. 14453 S. Dixie Hwy, Miami; 305-256-9700; delicesdefrancebakery.com.
