Drivers in the City of Miami will soon be able to pay for metered parking through ParkMobile.

The mobile parking payment application will launch on Monday, March 3, as an alternative payment option to the already existing PayByPhone. PayByPhone and ParkMobile users will pay with the same location number, according to the Miami Parking Authority (MPA).

"When MPA launched PayByPhone in Miami about 16 years ago, the decision was rooted in deriving a benefit to the customer, meaning a seamless, quick, and easy way to pay for parking," MPA CEO Alejandra Argudin wrote in a press release. "That purpose remains unwavering today. Considering the city's rapid growth rate, transformation, and traffic challenges, adopting ParkMobile will afford customers an additional payment option, help enhance urban mobility, and increase consumer engagement."

Miami Beach drivers who rely on Park Mobile for their parking payments will no longer have to switch between the two apps when paying for parking in Miami. (Miami Beach expanded its parking payment options to include PayByPhone in April 2024).

Miami residents who register with MPA will still be able to use the resident discounted parking rate through ParkMobile. They can enjoy up to a 50 percent discount on-street parking, MPA says.

MPA's parking revenues for fiscal year 2023 were $55.3 million, according to the authority's 2023 annual report. Its off-street facilities collected more than $5.7 million.
