The birth of a baby boy at Miami International Airport (MIA) on the evening of Tuesday, November 12, gave new meaning to "Arrivals" and sparked excitement around the Magic City and beyond.

Reports spread that the mother was surrounded by onlookers as first responders helped bring the newborn safely into the world around 5 p.m. near MIA's Door 3 — in what can only be characterized as less-than-ideal delivery room conditions.

This is not MIA's first impromptu childbirth rodeo. You may recall that back in 2021, a baby girl born in an MIA restroom was christened Mia in recognition of her birthplace.

In that same spirit, with mother and child reportedly in good health, the question arises: What should the little guy be named to commemorate the circumstances surrounding his own conspicuous entrance?

Our first thought was Odysseus, but that's not sufficiently local.

Below are six other suitable MIA-specific suggestions, listed in free-associative order.

Skylar Tran

Inspired by the Skytrain, MIA's people-moving machine that has seen it all — from frantic sprints to peaceful naps between gates. Skylar Tran is a name that says, "I get you where you need to go...eventually."

Bacardí

This potent moniker pays homage to Miami's rich Cuban heritage and renowned rum culture. It's also nod to the Bacardi Mojito Bar, a popular spot in Concourse D.

Delayno

This one is inspired in equal parts by MIA's notorious reputation for flight delays and the labors associated with, y'know, labor. Universal struggles associated with travel, plus the requisite patience of a mother.

Estefan

Why not salute the Magic City's vibrant music and cultural scene as personified by Miami's royal couple, Gloria and Emilio Estefan? Bonus points for their MIA restaurant, Estefan Kitchen Express, located in Concourse D.

Fiasco

OK, it's a little heavy on the chaos, but you have to admit that as a first name, it positively trips off the tongue. Consider it a paean to MIA's penchant for consistently delivering the unexpected, even when that's the opposite of what you want.

Escalito

A sweet-sounding diminutive in recognition of the well-trodden (and often out of order) escalators of MIA that take weary travelers on seemingly endless journeys. Escalito symbolizes the ups and downs of navigating the airport — and life.

Whatever name he winds up with, this baby boy will always have an origin story that stars one of the world's busiest and quirkiest airports. And should he go through life with one of the names suggested above, he'll carry Miami's lively spirit wherever life's travels take him.
