Forbes released its annual list of the world's richest billionaires, and there are now a record-breaking 3,028 billionaires worldwide with a total net worth of $16.2 trillion. The average fortune among the world's wealthiest is a whopping $5.3 billion — a $200 million increase from 2024. To compile the World's Billionaires List and estimate each individual's worth, Forbes used stock prices and exchange rates from March 7.
Nearly 300 newcomers, including Bruce Springsteen, Arnold Schwarzenegger, and Jerry Seinfeld, joined the list for the first time. All three have estimated net worths just north of $1 billion. Of the 3,000 people on the list, 406, including Taylor Swift, Oprah, and Melinda French Gates, are women.
Elon Musk, Tesla CEO and cofounder who is perhaps better known as the U.S. de facto president as he runs the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), topped the list with an estimated net worth of $342 billion. Facebook cofounder and Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg came in second with $216 billion, jumping Amazon founder and Miami's billionaire Jeff Bezos, who followed with a net worth of $215 billion. Larry Ellison, Oracle cofounder, and Bernard Arnault, CEO and founder of luxury conglomerate LVMH, rounded out the top five.#ForbesBillionaires List: Forbes has been scanning the globe for billionaires since 1987. A line graph accompanying each billionaire on the list illustrates their often skyrocketing wealth between 2020 and 2025. In a mere five years, Musk's net worth grew by $317 billion, while Zuckerberg accumulated another $161 billion, and Bezos increased his riches by $112 billion.
Miami is home to Indian Creek Village, AKA Billionaire Bunker, so it should not be entirely surprising that several Miamians are among the wealthiest people in the world. (Remember, billionaires are literally gentrifying millionaires out of Indian Creek.)
To highlight the sheer wealth in Miami-Dade County, New Times filtered the 3,000 people down to only those living in the U.S. and examined the top 400 billionaires. Lo and behold, five of the top 400 richest people are Miami residents.
Below, listed in descending order of wealth, are the five Miamians who are among the world's top 400 wealthiest people. (They are listed along with their ranking and net worth).
