Update: Lady Gaga has added a third date for Wednesday, September 3, to her Miami show for the Mayhem Ball. With Miami being the only city in the South, are expected tickets to be in high demand. The presale started today, with thousands in the queue hoping to snatch up the coveted tickets.

Lady Gaga has announced she'll return to Miami for two shows at Kaseya Center this fall. The Mayhem Ball tour, coming to the downtown Miami arena Sunday, August 31; Monday, September 1; and Wednesday, September 3; is Gaga's first time back in town since her Chromatica Ball stop at Hard Rock Stadium in September 2022.

On Twitter this morning, Gaga announced that, contrary to the theories of many of her Little Monsters, she hadn't planned on touring in support of her latest album, Mayhem, this year. Gaga had announced standalone shows in places she hasn't visited in well over a decade — Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and Singapore, all known for particularly passionate Little Monster contingents — and she's scheduled to headline Coachella for the second time on April 11 and 20.
Gaga added that the response to Mayhem compelled her to tour in support of the record, with LiveNation helping her plan the jaunt "in just a few weeks." She'll play 13 shows in six cities during the North American leg — including Miami, her hometown of New York, and Las Vegas, a second home of sorts, where her "Enigma" and "Jazz & Piano " residencies were hot ticket items for years. The European shows kick off two weeks after the close of the first leg, with 19 shows in ten cities.

Curiously, Gaga has chosen to stick to arenas this time around, saying the smaller venues afford her "the opportunity to control the details of the show in a way you simply can't in stadiums." Coming from anyone else, that might sound like clever PR spin from an artist whose imperial phase is waning. But Gaga is enjoying an impressive resurgence after the release of her seventh solo studio album, nearly two decades into her career. Mayhem debuted at No. 1 — her seventh album to do so — and yielded two certified hits with "Die With a Smile" and "Abracadabra." The album has also been critically lauded, garnering her best reviews since 2011's Born This Way.

Miami might also be partially to blame for Gaga's choice of an arena tour. The Chromatica Ball was her first full arena tour, and although it was a commercial and critical success and was released as a concert film on HBO's streaming service, Max, it limped to an anticlimactic ending when its final show at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens was cut short by heavy storms.

"This is my first arena tour since 2018," Gaga said in a statement announcing the tour. "There's something electric about a stadium, and I love every moment of those shows. But with The Mayhem Ball, I wanted to create a different kind of experience — something more intimate — closer, more connected — that lends itself to the live theatrical art I love to create." That's all well and good, but it's also comforting to know that, barring a hurricane, this one's less likely to get rained out.
