It’s no secret that the Cheesecake Factory takes its cheesecake seriously.
The menu boasts more than 30 cheesecakes, and for National Cheesecake Day this Saturday, July 30, another will be added to the repertoire. Hint: It’ll duel the famous and sinfully decadent Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake.
Also, to celebrate the important food holiday, all cheesecakes on the menu will be available at half-price.
Before we make the big reveal, here are two reasons the Cheesecake Factory observes July as National Cheesecake History Month:
– The sweet stuff has been around since the time of the ancient Greeks, and it is said to have been served to guests in celebration of the first Olympic games in 776 B.C.
– Many, many years later, in 1872, a dude named William H. Lawrence accidentally created cream cheese. What’s the relevance? His birthday is July 29.
The newest cheesecake to join the restaurant’s ranks: Hershey’s Chocolate Bar. Alethea Rowe, the Cheesecake Factory’s senior director of restaurant marketing, gave us the scoop.
New Times: Why was the Hershey’s Chocolate Bar Cheesecake created?
Alethea Rowe: With the resurging popularity of classic comfort foods, our executive pastry chef, Chris Radovan, was inspired to create a dessert featuring
flavors everyone grew up with. He knew that the classic Hershey’s chocolate bar would be the perfect flavor to combine with our legendary
cheesecake. He then added layers of moist chocolate cake and
chocolate ganache to complement the cheesecake, and finished the
cheesecake with an incredible chocolate frosting to top it off.
How long did it take to create?
It took chef Chris Radovan approximately six months to perfect our
Hershey’s Chocolate Bar Cheesecake.
How will it compete with the Godiva Cheesecake?
The Hershey’s Chocolate Bar Cheesecake will be a great addition to our
menu of more than 30 legendary cheesecakes. It is a very different
dessert experience than our Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake because the
Hershey’s Chocolate Bar Cheesecake features a layer of milk chocolate
cheesecake between two layers of chocolate cake and ganache. Our
Godiva Chocolate Cheesecake has a layer of semisweet chocolate
cheesecake on a flourless chocolate cake topped with a semisweet
chocolate mousse. Both cheesecakes are delicious and will appeal to
chocolate lovers alike.
