Cinco de Mayo is fast approaching, and other than ginormous sombreros and tequila shots, what better way to celebrate Mexican culture than through a knock-down, drag-out futbol fight? Balls to the wall, so to speak.
Red Bull’s Fiesta de Futbol is pitting three against three for a serious soccer battle over Cinco de Mayo weekend. Winners will score a $1,000 prize, plus bragging rights for winning a Red Bull-sponsored sporting event. After all, RB does adrenaline right, from flugtags to space jumps to soccer.

The match is an annual tradition, now in its sixth year. And it’s not just for pros. Organizers welcome anyone who’s into ball-kicking and head-butting (and who registers early enough to snag a spot).
While all player registrations were snapped up long ago (mark your calendar for next year), the public can come and spectate, which is bound to be even more entertaining (and less sweaty). Plus, you can always sign up on the wait list, just in case anyone no shows (AKA, chickens out).
According to the folks at Red Bull, the three-on-three format means the game is fast-paced, high-scoring, benefits teamwork, and, of course, requires skills. A total of 24 three-person teams with players of varying levels will compete.
Players and crowds alike will get to groove to the tunes of DJ Frankie P. Plus, there’ll be Red Bull refreshments on hand. Duh.
The games kick off on the Soccer Roof Top in Brickell (444 Brickell Ave., Miami) at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 4. The victors will get their trophies at 5 p.m. Drop by and cheer on those more ballsy (ha!) than you. Americans really need to up their support of soccer anyway. Why not start now?
