In a watery world off Key Biscayne, with its multimillion-dollar homes and condos, sits Stiltsville, one of the last vestiges of Miami untouched by the hand of “progress.” Yet, anyway. The seven remaining structures hovering above Biscayne Bay have survived hurricanes, but politics is another matter. Which means the Father’s Day/Flag Day Boat Tour to the landmark aquatic community may be the last. Led by South Florida historian Dr. Paul George, and sponsored by the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, the 10:00 a.m. expedition explores the colorful cluster of homes that was once part of a flourishing community in existence since the 1930s. Cost is $37, and reservations are required. Call 305-375-1621. — By John Anderson

Running Strong
For 28 years the Northwest Track and Field Classic has been combining athletic motivation with community spirit to build winners. The event was saved by Jesse Holt when its former sponsor, the Boys Club of Miami, quit supporting it in 1979. Since then Holt has kept the event alive and vital. Check out the Mothers/Grandmothers 400 Meter Relay or the Jimmy “Peach Head” Douglas Invitational 200 Meter Dash. There will be food, fun, and refreshments for the entire family. The meet begins at 5:00 tonight and at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15 at Miami-Dade Community College North Campus/Traz Powell Stadium, 11380 NW 27th Ave. Admission is $2. Pool It
The Venetian Aquatic Club understands that 820,000 gallons of fresh water filtered on a daily basis throughout the summer at a stunning 1924 structure sure as hell beats out that tiny kiddie pool in your back yard when it comes to giving youngsters swimming lessons. Of course, oldsters like you, who don’t know a backstroke from a backhand, could benefit from some aquatic tutelage too. Lucky for your family, the VAC will begin offering classes for kids and adults today through early August at the fabulous Venetian Pool (2701 DeSoto Blvd., Coral Gables). Fee is $40.
