Only in Miami could a steakhouse that opened in the middle of a brutally slow summer turn around and land among the top steakhouses in all of North America. The restaurant in question? Daniel’s Miami, and it has officially pulled off the kind of culinary plot twist that makes the Magic City’s dining scene so fun to cover.

The show-stopping steakhouse, which opened in late July 2025 in the former Fiola space, was just ranked ninth on the World’s Best 101 Steak Restaurants – North America list in only four months since opening. Yes, number nine in all of North America after such a short period. The impressive feat comes as no surprise, as New Times even added the restaurant to its annual Top 100 Restaurants list this past September.

The ranking comes from the World’s Best Steak Restaurants, a global authority that evaluates steakhouses across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Daniel’s now sits in the same tier as long-established temples of beef that have spent years building followings.

While the restaurant is new to the Gables, it first gained high praise over in Fort Lauderdale, where it opened its original location in 2024 to much fanfare. Its Fort Lauderdale location even won the title of “Best Steakhouse in Florida” by Tasting Table this past October.

Executive chef Daniel Ganem shared the news on Instagram on December 1, writing that he woke up “pinching myself to see if this past Sunday was real” before thanking his family, his team, and the organization behind the list. His gratitude-filled caption ended with a triumphant celebration of landing number nine and a promise to get right back to work. “Thank you to the World’s Best Steak Restaurants for seeing our mission to wow guests through our wholesome and outstanding work of hospitality and cuisine,” wrote Ganem. “Congratulations to the Goia Family — we are ninth in North America!”

Another Miami Hotspot Makes The List

Also making the North American list was the wildly popular Sunny’s Steakhouse in Miami’s Little River neighborhood, which ranked number 23. Led by chef Aaron Brooks, Sunny’s began as a pandemic popup from Will Thompson and Carey Hynes of the now-closed Jaguar Sun. It opened as a full-fledged restaurant in fall 2024 and quickly became a national media darling, earning New Times‘ Best Steakhouse 2025 award. Bon Appétit praised its wood-fired meats, including the wagyu skirt steak and Florida seafood, as well as its crab agnolotti, which has its own dedicated fan club.

Sunny’s followed up that momentum with one of the biggest honors in dining. In September 2025, the New York Times placed it on the 2025 Restaurant List, the paper’s annual guide to the 50 best restaurants in America that critics cannot stop thinking about. It was the only restaurant in Florida to make the cut.

Miami’s steakhouse scene is officially hotter than ever.
