Who wants dinner with an undeniable kink factor? We do! You can come too — we like things extra-kinky. Tonight’s repast is sold out, but tomorrow evening, give Dining in the Dark with chef Adrianne Calvo a shot.
Calvo, whose episode of Food Network’s Chopped aired October 25, is hosting a blindfolded dinner at her restaurant, Chef Adrianne’s Vineyard, Restaurant & Wine Bar, and in honor of the Chinese New Year (that’s your cue to roar like a dragon), she has created a multiple-course Chinese menu.
It’s supposed to be a culinary adventure where guests are blindfolded to enhance their sense of taste, sound, and texture. Previous Dining in the Dark dinners have been themed on the culinary regions of Greece, Spain, and Italy, so this is the first for China. Given the chef’s experience at the five-diamond Mandarin Oriental, we doubt she’ll be short on ideas for the five- to seven-course meal.
The price is $50 per person (plus gratuity and taxes), and trust you’ll be fighting rush-hour traffic to get to her humble gastronomic abode by 7:30 p.m. Chef Adrianne chose West Kendall on purpose, though; the restaurant has a Napa Valley feel. Napa and Sonoma are a trek for most Californians — she wanted the same here, away from the hustle and bustle of the obvious South Beach.
The series has been such a tremendous success in the past four months that she’s had to extend the monthly dinner to two nights a month — which is why you’ll be able to attend tomorrow. Call 305-408-8386 or 305-408-8388 to reserve a table.
“I am looking forward to this month’s Dining in the Dark Dining… I think it will be a completely new take on everyone’s traditional idea of Chinese food,” she says.
You’d be surprised what happens when you know no one is watching. Bring on the kinky goodness!
