Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros radiate positivity.

Sure, hippie hallucinogens help. But even soberish, the 13-piece troupe’s Sunday-afternoon set at Bonnaroo 2013’s Which Stage made everyone’s eyes swell with happy tears.

“I knew I was going to [propose] during [‘Home’],” says Patrick Fette, a mustached dude from Louisville, Kentucky, who asked his girlfriend, Melissa Beswick, to marry him as Alex Ebert, Jade Castrinos, and a choir of tripped-out Bonnaroovians sang the chorus to Edward Sharpe’s 2009 hit.

Beswick respectfully disagrees.

“It was very sweet!”

So was the proposal. And it’s something that everyone who witnessed it will remember for a lifetime, especially Beswick.

She says that “being here with [Fette] on his first Bonnaroo experience” is special “’cause it’s my favorite place on Earth.”
